Mr. Clean Dies
House Peters Jr, the original Mr. Clean from the ads in the 1950s and 60s has passed away…
From AP:
LOS ANGELES – House Peters Jr., a TV actor who became the original Mr. Clean in Proctor & Gamble’s commercials for household cleaners, died Wednesday. He was 92.
Peters died of pneumonia at the Motion Picture and Television Fund Hospital in Los Angeles, said his son, Jon Peters.
The elder Peters’ most memorable role came as Mr. Clean — a muscular man with a bald head, a hoop earring and a no-nonsense attitude toward dirt and grime. From the late 1950s and into the early 1960s, Peters Jr. helped advertise the famous household cleaner with the trademark jingle, “Mr. Clean, Mr. Clean.”
Peters Jr. played many supporting roles through his career, including working with Roy Rogers and Gene Autry on their television shows. He also appeared in “Perry Mason,” “Gunsmoke,” “The Twilight Zone” and “Lassie.”
Jessica Alba….Hannibal Lecter?
Every horror story has a sequel, and Jessica Alba is again using shock value to get the word out about the importance of voting.
The actress poses for another ad in the Declare Yourself campaign, this time sporting a Hannibal Lecter-type mask called The Muzzler in her provocative appeal to young voters.
Explaining her passion for the campaign, Alba said, “If you don’t register and vote and make a difference, and hopefully change the bad things that are happening in our country, you are essentially just binding and muzzling yourself.”

Bailout Bill Fails & Dow Plunges!
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — The fate of the Bush administration’s $700 billion financial bailout plan was abruptly thrown in doubt Monday as a House vote turned against the controversial measure.
The next steps were not immediately clear but supporters were scrambling to put it up for another vote.
What was supposed to be a 15-minute vote stretched past the half-hour mark as leadership scrambled for support.
Investors who had been counting on the rescue plan sent the Dow Jones industrial average down as much as 700 points while watching the measure come up short of the necessary support, before rebounding slightly. The key stock reading was down more than 500 points.
